Central Park Boulevard Interchange: Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
Denver officials hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Central Park Boulevard Interchange today.
The connection will open Monday, Oct. 31, providing direct access to Interstates 70 and 270. It will also connect north and south Stapleton via Central Park Boulevard.
The interchange’s construction began last fall. By mid-2012, the project will extend Central Park Boulevard from the neighborhoods at 36th Avenue to retail off Northfield Boulevard.

The six-lane interchange will include a bridge over Interstate 70, and is tentatively scheduled to open Nov. 1. A road extension will also connect Stapleton’s residential area south of I-70 to the Shops at Northfield Stapleton.

Stapleton bridge demolition will cause lane closures on I-70
Beginning Sunday, Aug. 14, construction crews will demolish the former Stapleton Airport road over I-70. The road is located between Havana and Quebec streets, and the demolition will last for eight consecutive nights.
This is part of ongoing construction for the new Central Park Boulevard interchange.

Finally, Stapleton has a bike shop! Cycleton, a neighborhood cycling store, has leased space in the crescent at East 29th Avenue Town Center. The shop’s goal is to become the go-to shop in Denver for friendly, knowledgeable sales, training, bike-fitting, and service. Cycleton chose its location because it wanted to fill a great void in Stapleton and Park Hill for a quality, local bike shop.

Central Park Boulevard Project Update
The time has now come to set the girders and deck panels for the new Central Park Boulevard Bridge over I-70. On Friday night May 20 we will be closing down the highways around the Central Park Boulevard Interchange project, starting with a single left lane on I-270 EB at 6 PM. Then the I-70 EB and WB closure will start being implemented at approximately 10 PM with the full I-70 detour starting at midnight. It will be picked up by 7 AM Saturday.

Stapleton parents will soon have another great school to send their children to. The Montessori Children's House of Denver (MCHD) has acquired a 1.8 acre site for its new school at Central Park Boulevard and Xanthia Way and will soon start construction. MCHD will open its Stapleton facility with a toddlers program (18 months – 3 years), a primary program (3 – 6 years) and an elementary program (1st - 6th grade). “Our new campus in Stapleton incorporates indoor and outdoor classrooms which will provide a rich environment that will inspire children’s desire to learn,” according to Rachael Averch, President.

A new I-70 Interchange coming in 2011
Stapleton is getting a new front door.
On I-70 between the exits for Quebec and Havana, a brand new $50 million interchange will provide direct access to the heart of Stapleton via Central Park Boulevard. In addition, the interchange will also provide new, more efficient access to I-270.For those interested in locating a business in Stapleton, the new interchange will create a number of highly accessible and highly visible sites. Projected daily trip counts are impressive: a whopping 183,000 for I-70.
